The Faction crew sought out untracked 4,000-meter peaks via air, road and camel in one of Central Asia’s most isolated mountain ranges.

Glacial rivers freeze solid by dawn and rage by afternoon. Wind strips faces to blue ice overnight. With rescue days away, stakes were high.

All to be in Mongolia’s remote Altai Mountains, where skiing originated over 10,000 years ago.

Skiing is not art, and skiers are not artists. Unless, of course, skiing is art and skiers are artists? Faction film exhibit pure creativity through a series of freeski sequences from the vibrant streets of Japan, to the powdery pillows of British Columbia, to the finely-manicured terrain parks of Switzerland and Italy. Each location provides a blank canvas for the team’s artistic expression. Because nothing screams “artist” like sending large cliffs and grinding the side of buildings.

From the steep mountains of the French Alps to the streets of Salt Lake City, this movie highlights the current level of women’s freeskiing, while going deep into the motivations, mindset and shared sense of purpose needed to push their limits on skis. It’s a movie about the strength of a female action sports’ collective.
